The Importance of Seeking Medical Attention

In life, there are few things (if any) more important than the protection and preservation of your health. It is often said that your health is paramount to your happiness. At Khalil Law Group, APC, we could not agree more. Not just from a personal perspective, but also based on the fact that we see the toll that injuries have on our client’s on a daily basis. We cannot tell you how often past, current and potential client’s call or come into one of our offices and explain how the injuries they sustained at work or in a car accident have uprooted their daily lives. Simply put, so many people would give just about everything they had to have their bodies go “back to normal.”

For this reason, if you or ANYONE (client or otherwise) you know are injured on the job, in a grocery store, in a car accident or anywhere else, Khalil Law Group begs you to please seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Why is Early Medical Attention important?

It is extremely important for an injured party to be examined and analyzed by a qualified medical professional. We get that it is time-consuming, we understand that you are tough and we appreciate how busy life is. However, early medical intervention could be the difference between an injury that irritates you for a couple of weeks and an injury that lingers for years. You owe it to yourself to make sure that you take care of yourself, first and foremost.

If necessary, get medical care at the scene of an accident and allow medical professionals to transport you to an emergency room by way of ambulance. Serious injuries, especially those involving internal organs and your head, should not be taken lightly. Allow on-scene medical care to take place and make sure that you are being evaluated all the way to the hospital. Get into that ambulance and worry about everything else later!

Legal and Insurance Perspectives

When dealing with insurance companies, it is important to show that you were proactive in seeking medical attention and did everything you could to reduce the harm to your body. Waiting too long to seek necessary and effective medical care could hinder your ability to maximize the medical care that you deserve and the potential compensation to you for the injuries that you sustained. Insurance companies and their agents aren’t established to help you. They are businesses that do everything they can to reduce their own costs and diminish your claim. By waiting to seek medical care, you are giving the insurance companies and adjusters an excuse to either deny your claim or diminish the value of your claim. Do not trust insurance companies and do not give them any excuses to pretend that your injuries are not substantial or important. By seeking medical care sooner rather than later, you are helping ensure that the medical records are prompt and well established. When these actions are done appropriately, it becomes difficult for the insurance companies to argue against compensating you.

Developing a Medical Plan of Action

By seeking medical attention soon after an injury or symptoms, you are taking a powerful step towards recovery. The sooner you get evaluated by a competent and well respected medical professional, the sooner a plan of action can be undertaken to help you recover from any injuries and ailments. A proper plan for your medical care will hopefully lead you to the fastest recovery.

Lastly, you should always follow the advice of trusted medical professionals. This includes listening to your doctors and following up with all appointments and treatment recommendations until you are discharged from their care.

Your health is your wealth. Khalil Law Group, APC is happy to assist you. We are here to help!
